East Texas Baptist University recognized the academic achievements of outstanding Tiger students at the annual Honors Chapel awards ceremony. Students who were inducted into various honor societies, as well as those who received Academic Excellence Awards, were applauded for their accomplishments. Academic Excellence Awards are given to students from different academic departments who are recognized by their respective faculty for their Christian character, scholarly accomplishments, servant leadership, and active involvement in ETBU campus life.

East Texas Baptist University hosted its annual tribute to the Honorable Sam B. Hall, Jr. with the Sam B. Hall Patriotic Concert on Friday, April 22. The concert featured patriotic live music performed by the University Symphonic Band, Combined Choirs, and Hilltop Singers, as well as a celebratory salute to those who serve or have served in the U.S. military. In addition to members of the East Texas community, several members of Sam B. Hall’s family were in attendance to honor his life and legacy.

Kayleigh Hill of Whitehouse, Texas, was recognized on Friday, April 21, during East Texas Baptist University’s 75th annual Senior Girl Call-Out. Selected by a faculty and staff vote, the individual “called out” each year is distinguished for her exemplary Christian character, social consciousness, personal poise, academic achievement, and spiritual vision.

171 East Texas Baptist University graduating seniors were recognized on Wednesday, April 20, with the presentation of their official ETBU class ring. The ring represents seniors’ hard work and dedication throughout their time on the Hill.

East Texas Baptist University’s Department of Music and Theatre Arts continued its’ strong slate of performances April 7-10 with a stirring rendition of Our Town, written by Thornton Wilder. The thought-provoking story follows unassuming characters in the fictitious town Grover’s Corner, New Hampshire. The show was directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Arts John Dement.
