Spreading the Gospel through the universal language of sports, the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Spirit Teams (Cheer and Pom), and Acrobatics and Tumbling traveled to Japan from Thursday, August 1 through Saturday, August 10 as part of the Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) program.

A crowd gathered at the Marshall Grand last week to celebrate and honor the generosity of a community and distinguish six local students who seek to impact the medical industry through a future career in nursing. ETBU’s Joshua Hartley, Colby Simmons, and Stacie Simmons received the scholarship during the reception held at the newly opened Marshall Grand.

A rising offensive coordinator, East Texas Baptist University football coach Jason Bachtel has been tabbed a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine 40 Under 40 Coach. He is one of 10 college coaches chosen as one of the best young football coaches in the Lone Star state.

The East Texas Baptist University School of Nursing has attained a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for the fifth consecutive year. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) recently confirmed that all ETBU Spring 2019 nursing graduates passed the NCLEX.

Junior Speech Communication major Ronni Ward of Logansport, Louisiana was crowned as the 63rd Miss ETBU on Saturday, March 30. Actively involved in the ETBU community as a member of the Student Government Association (SGA), Political Awareness Society, and Tiger Cheer, Ward was selected from among 12 contestants at the annual scholarship pageant sponsored by ETBU’s SGA. As Miss ETBU, she receives a generous academic scholarship as well as the opportunity to represent the University throughout the community and region during her reign.
