ETBU remembers fallen heroes of 9/11

In remembrance and honor, East Texas Baptist University and the Marshall community paid homage to the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A prayer service, memorial stair climb, and a special memorial presentation during ETBU’s chapel service were held on Wednesday to honor those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Before the memorial stair climb, ETBU President J. Blair Blackburn gave the benediction at the annual 9/11 community prayer service held Wednesday morning at Telegraph Park in historic downtown Marshall.

ETBU enters into 2019-2020 academic year with Convocation

East Texas Baptist University held its annual 2019 Fall Convocation chapel service on Friday, September 6. Faculty, staff, students, and governance leaders gathered for Convocation to celebrate the official start of the new academic year. During the service, the University recognized Judge David L. Anderson with an Honorary Doctorate degree.

ETBU breaks ground on Kenny Ponder Park and Chapel on the Hill

East Texas Baptist University faculty, staff, and trustees met together on Friday, August 30 at the future site of the Chapel on the Hill and Kenny Ponder Park, as President J. Blair Blackburn and the Ponder family officially broke ground for the new construction. Located adjacent to the pond on ETBU’s campus, this facility will be a dedicated house of worship to focus on the power of prayer, the sanctity of biblical marriage, and the celebration of loved ones.

ETBU sparks connection through Fall 2019 Move-In and Tiger Camp

East Texas Baptist University welcomed new students and their families to campus for Tiger Camp, ETBU’s Welcome Week, on Wednesday, August 14 and returning students on Saturday, August 17. Faculty, staff, and Tiger athletic teams assembled outside residence halls across campus in the early morning to help new students move in. Each volunteer wore a shirt that said, “Fan the Flame,” emphasizing ETBU’s commitment to mentorship and spiritual growth.
