East Texas Baptist University Theatre Arts Associate Professor John Dement united the Marshall community through a production of Michael Elliot Brill’s 1979 play, The Masque of Beauty and the Beast. Serving as the inaugural production of Dement’s Starr Struck Theatre, the performance was held at 8:00 p.m. from March 13-16 at no cost to attendees. A total of 235 patrons from Texarkana, Carthage, Longview, Jefferson, Shreveport, and Marshall experienced the performance.

East Texas Baptist University students traveled to Birmingham, Alabama from Sunday, March 10 through Friday, March 15 on a mission trip as a part of the national Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge. Led by ETBU Dean of Spiritual Life Scott Stevens, the ETBU students earned service credit hours while being involved in hands-on mission work through home construction and rehabilitation.

East Texas Baptist University sent 18 Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) student leaders to South Padre Island, Texas on Friday, March 8 through Friday, March 15 as a part of Beach Reach, an annual evangelism initiative to share the hope of Jesus by providing free food and transportation to beach visitors.

The East Texas Baptist University Symphonic Band and Concert Choir traveled to Austria as a part of the ETBU Global Study and Serve Program and the American Celebration of Music in Austria Concert Series from Wednesday, March 6 to Friday, March 15. Led by ETBU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas Sanders, Department of Music Chair Justin Hodges, Assistant Band Director Douglas Lockard, and Collaborative Artist and College Organist Cathy DeRousse, the group of 56 students and faculty performed at and toured historical and cultural sites throughout Austria.

The East Texas Baptist University Women’s Soccer Team traveled to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica from Saturday, March 9 through Saturday, March 16 as a part of the Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) program. Led by Head Coach Kristin Cox and Director of the Great Commission Center and Global Education Lisa Seeley, the group of 30 student-athletes and University staff partnered with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) to share the Gospel through sport clinics, international soccer games, personal testimony, and Bible distributions.
