East Texas Baptist University receives grant from Dean Foundation for new William B. Dean, M.D. Center for Language and Literacy Development

The Dean Foundation has gifted East Texas Baptist University a grant of $500,000 to create the William B. Dean, M.D. Center for Language and Literacy Development. The Dean Center encompasses an expansion of ETBU’s downtown campus learning center at the Marshall Grand for the new Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program and the enhancement of the University’s student-focused Learning Support Services program.

Fall 2021 Enrollment indicates growth for East Texas Baptist University

East Texas Baptist University celebrates the second-highest recorded student enrollment in the University’s 109-year history with 1,688 total students, and an 84% undergraduate retention rate (2% higher than the five-year average). In addition, the total graduate enrollment exhibits the highest graduate enrollment in University history, up by 13% from last year.

New and returning Tigers unite on the Hill for the Fall 2021 semester

East Texas Baptist University’s 2021-2022 academic year officially began with ETBU student-athletes returning to campus, August Mini-Term classes, Tiger Camp, and Move-In Day. This year, over 400 students enrolled in the August Mini-Terms, which allow completion of the equivalent semester-long courses in one-week and two-week class offerings. Fall semester classes began on Monday, August 16.

Four ETBU faculty members receive promotions

East Texas Baptist University is pleased to announce the promotion of four faculty members, including Dr. Allen Appiah-Boateng (Associate Professor of Counseling Education), Dr. Laci McRee (Associate Professor of Kinesiology), Dr. Jenny Hoover (Associate Professor of History), and Dr. Colleen Halupa (Professor of Clinical Lab Science and Dean of Online Education). These promotions mark a proud moment for the ETBU community as students, faculty, and staff have witnessed these individuals make a significant impact on campus and in the classroom.
