ETBU’s Kinesiology Department hosts Field Day

East Texas Baptist University's Kinesiology Department hosted its tenth annual Field Day for Washington Early Childhood Center (WECC) on Wednesday, November 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Keys Gym on campus. Kinesiology students enrolled in the Teaching K-5 Physical Education course interacted with over 280 three and four year-olds from the center, allowing them to enjoy a variety of physical activities including parachute play, tricycle riding, and obstacle courses.

ETBU expands its reach for students

East Texas Baptist University partners with Kilgore College (KC) through an articulation agreement, that was signed on Wednesday, November 1 at the Kilgore College campus. The agreement, put in place by ETBU President J. Blair Blackburn and KC President Brenda Kays, will offer students at KC and ETBU access to enhanced educational opportunities.

ETBU students recognized for Christian servant leadership

East Texas Baptist University acknowledged two students on Monday, October 30 for their outstanding service to the campus and community. Seniors Austin Damron of Lake Jackson and Harleigh Parrish of Huntington were awarded the Bob and Gayle Riley Servant Leadership Award during a special chapel service focused on servant leadership. Dr. Bob Riley, ETBU President Emeritus, and his wife, former First Lady Gayle Riley, presented the students with a replica of the "Divine Servant" statue, created by Max Greiner, that stands outside of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.

ETBU’s Worship Summit encourages and trains music ministers

East Texas Baptist University, along with Texas Baptists (BGCT) and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (SBTC), hosted the second annual Worship Summit on Thursday, October 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in ETBU's Ornelas Student Center. More than 60 individuals gathered to enrich the worship experience and to network with others in the Worship Ministry discipline.

ETBU Debate wins fourth place at the Louisiana Tech tournament

The East Texas Baptist University Debate Team competed at the Louisiana Tech University Hot and Spicy Debate Tournament on Saturday, October 14 through Sunday, October 15 in Ruston, LA. The team advanced competitors in each of the four debate divisions and finished in fourth place in the 11-team field, only coming in behind LSU-Shreveport, Bossier Parish Community College, and the University of Tennessee.
