The 2022-2023 academic year is off to an exciting start at East Texas Baptist University. After a summer spent working, traveling, and serving, students returned to the Hill for August Mini-Term classes, Move-In Day, Tiger Camp, and the official start of the Fall 2022 semester on August 15.

East Texas Baptist University recently received a $100,000 grant from the East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) Foundation. This marks the third year the University has received grant funds from ETMC to help meet the growing need for mental healthcare in Smith County and the greater East Texas region.

East Texas Baptist University’s Tiger Golf Team traveled to St. Andrews, Scotland, in early June, marking the first Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME) trip since the COVID-19 pandemic and the thirteenth TAME trip overall. The group of 20 student-athletes, coaches, and staff, partnered with International Sports Federation (ISF) and spent eight days serving the people of Scotland and playing golf before returning home.

The East Texas Baptist University School of Christian Studies journeyed to Israel from May 9 through 20 as a part of the Global Study and Serve program. During the trip, a group of 32 students, faculty, and staff spent 11 days following the footsteps of Jesus. The trip was led by ETBU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas Sanders.

East Texas Baptist University held its annual Hilltop University on Monday, May 23 through Wednesday, May 25. More than 190 participants, comprised of individuals, couples, groups of friends, and church groups experienced life on the University campus at ETBU through worship, biblical teaching, fellowship, and entertainment.
