MNM: New ETBU President Returns to His Roots

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (8/23/15) - East Texas Baptist University's new President Blair Blackburn has returned home with the recent move back to East Texas from his previous post at Dallas Baptist University.

The University of Texas at Tyler and Tyler Junior College alumnus said he is a true East Texan at heart with a love for hunting, God and family - not in that order.

Blackburn spent the past 20 years at the Dallas Christian university before he said a calling from God brought him back to the Pine Curtain.

ETBU Begins Fall Semester on Monday, August 24, 2015

MARSHALL, Texas (7/28/15) - East Texas Baptist University begins classes for the Fall semester on Monday, August 24, 2015. 

ETBU will welcome first-time freshman and transfer students on Thursday, August 20, 2015, as they check-in to residence halls from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The faculty and staff will be present to greet the new students and serve them by helping them move in to the residence halls. Incoming freshmen who registered to attend Tiger Camp will arrive on campus a few days earlier.

MNM: ETBU Preps for Welcome Week & Incoming New Students in Marshall

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (8/18/15) - East Texas Baptist University was flooded with 160 incoming freshmen students on Sunday as the newcomers unloaded their vehicles and moving vans to settle in for the semester.

The university's Tiger Camp is a transition/orientation program for incoming freshmen that previews the university's official Welcome Week, which officially begins on Thursday and runs through Monday, which begins fall semester classes.

ETBU Nursing School Graduates Perfect on NCLEX-RN Examination

MARSHALL, Texas (8/05/15) - Recent graduates of the Department of Nursing at East Texas Baptist University have obtained a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) examination. Registered Nurses (RN) are licensed professionals who must meet several requirements prior to receiving their license. Nursing graduates cannot work as RNs without passing the NCLEX-RN.

Twenty States, Religious Groups Ask Supreme Court to Take Contraceptive Mandate Case

WASHINGTON, D.C.  (8/11/15) - On Monday, over 20 states, along with several religious groups, are filing friend-of-the-court briefs at the Supreme Court supporting Houston Baptist University (HBU), East Texas Baptist University (ETBU), and Westminster Theological Seminary in their HHS mandate challenge. Last month, the three religious groups appealed to the Supreme Court for relief from the government, which is forcing them to comply with the healthcare mandate in violation of their faith or pay millions in IRS fines.
