ETBU Debaters Reach Semifinals

MARSHALL, Texas (10/06/15) - The East Texas Baptist University Debate Team competed at the University of Arkansas at Monticello Weevil Wars Debate Tournament in Monticello, Arkansas the weekend of October 3-4. Eleven schools from six states competed at the event. While the team did not finish the tournament in the top three sweepstakes calculations, some individual debaters had success at the event.

ETBU Students Enjoy Second Annual Community Color Run

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (10/6/15) - East Texas Baptist University students and faculty ducked, dipped, dived and dashed but could not dodge the dust during the Centennial Hall second annual 2K in Color Run/Walk on Monday.

The race snaked around the central section of campus, with volunteers waiting at checkpoints ready to sufficiently douse runners in a rainbow of neon-colored dust.

At the end of the race, participants gathered in front of Centennial Hall and unleashed a "color bomb," tossing dust high up in the air and creating a smoky haze.

WEEKEND TIGER ATHLETICS: Price Claims TX D3 Individual Championship; ETBU is 2nd Overall

CROSS COUNTRY (M): MARSHALL, Texas (10/3/15) - Landon Price added another title to his resume as he was the Texas Division III champion at the Texas Division III Championships hosted by East Texas Baptist University. Price finished third overall in the meet but won the Division III title as the top runner finishing in front of runners from Texas-Tyler, LeTourneau, Texas Dallas, Dallas, Hardin-Simmons, and Sul Ross State.

Sporting News Ranks Tiger Basketball in Top 10

BASKETBALL (M): CHARLOTTE, N.C. (10/1/15) - What a way to start off the preseason receiving top 10 news from the Sporting News NCAA Division III poll as East Texas Baptist University is number seven. In the first major men's basketball poll of the year, ETBU has earned national respect after last year?s NCAA Tournament run.

"We are very honored to receive this ranking," says head coach Bert West. "This shows the respect for our region of basketball. It's nice to have your program recognized but this is a new year and we have to earn that ranking again with a new team this year."
