ETBU Names Curran New Head Basketball Coach

BASKETBALL (M): MARSHALL, Texas (3/14/16) – A veteran of coaching NCAA Division I, II, and junior college men’s basketball, Brandon Curran has been named the new head men’s basketball coach for East Texas Baptist University. Curran has made stops at Dallas Baptist University, Centenary College, Jacksonville College, and the University of Texas-Austin.

ETBU Announces Louisiana Educational Advantage Program (LEAP)

MARSHALL, Texas (2/27/16) – Students from Louisiana are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship to attend East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn announced the creation of the Louisiana Educational Advantage Program (LEAP).  The program offers students from Louisiana a $1,000 scholarship to attend the Christian university for the 2016-2017 academic year. The LEAP program will provide $4,000 over four years to help a student from Louisiana to attend ETBU.

What is it like to walk where Jesus walked? ETBU plans a trip to the Holy Land, May 19-30, 2016

MARSHALL, Texas (2/26/16) – Have you ever thought about “what is it like to walk where Jesus walked?”  The East Texas Baptist University School of Humanities is providing this “once in a life time opportunity” for the Marshall community to travel to Israel this May and experience the wonders of the Holy Land in person. The Holy Land trip is scheduled for May 19-30.

Lady Tigers & Tigers Both Win at the ASC Championship Tournament

BASKETBALL (W): TYLER, Texas (2/25/16) – Rallying in the fourth quarter to come back from a seven-point deficit, the East Texas Baptist University women’s basketball won their first post-season game in eight years upsetting the West Division #3 seed the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 73-70, as they advance to the second round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. ETBU now has 17 wins which is the most since the 2006-07 season when they won 22.

Tigers & Lady Tigers to Play in the ASC Basketball Championship Tournament

BASKETBALL (W): MARSHALL, Texas (2/24/16) – With an overall of 16-9 and an ASC record of 8-7, the East Texas Baptist University women’s basketball team have qualified for the American Southwest Conference Tournament for the first time since the 2012-2013 season and eight overall in the program. They finish as the third seed in the ASC East Division and will be heading to Tyler, Texas, where they will competing for a chance to win the ASC Tournament. They start the tournament against the second place team in the West Division, Mary Hardin-Baylor, in the first round.
