UT Tyler President Dr. Julie Philley offers encouragement during ETBU Chapel address and healthcare luncheon

East Texas Baptist University welcomed Dr. Julie V. Philley, President of The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler), as the distinguished speaker for the ETBU Monday morning chapel service. Dr. Philley shared about her personal life and experiences in numerous roles as a healthcare professional, researcher, and educator. Dr. Philley emphasized how her path diverged from her initial plans and stressed the importance of embracing God's guidance and being grateful for each moment and season in life.

ETBU Students Share the Gospel and Serve at Beach Reach in South Padre Island

During spring break, a team of 22 students from East Texas Baptist University’s Baptist Student Ministry participated in Beach Reach, a ministry outreach in South Padre Island. Through service, prayer, and evangelism, the students provided free transportation, meals, and spiritual guidance to spring breakers visiting the island.

School of Christian Studies and Humanities Academic Conference

The School of Christian Studies and Humanities recently held a small academic conference sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, Sigma Tau Delta and Theta Alpha Kappa. The idea for this conference was first conceived as an opportunity for students to gain experience presenting academic work in an environment that is encouraging and familiar. Although the conference is on a very small scale, it is designed to introduce students to the structure and format they might encounter at a large conference.

Seven faculty members at East Texas Baptist University recently received promotions, including Dr. Patrick Antinone (Associate Professor of Music), Dr. Nathan Phillips (Associate Professor of Music), Dr. Kate Mead (Associate Professor of Communication), Mr. Dan Streety (Associate Professor of Communication), Mr. Jake Yenish (Associate Professor of Theatre Arts), Dr. Nicole Fant (Associate Professor of Nursing), and Dr. Ellis Purdie (Professor of Languages and Literature).
