Admission Requirements

We are always happy to help you through the application process. Throughout the process, you should be looking towards these milestones:  general acceptance into the University, provisional acceptance in the M.Ed. Program, full acceptance into the M.Ed. Program, and enrollment. To accomplish these, you will need to complete the appropriate steps for your Track of choice.

Sports & Exercise Leadership:

1)    Fill out the application online

2)    Submit $50 Application Fee (Payable online HERE)

3)    Submit official transcript indicating that you have completed your bachelor’s degree. You will need to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a 2.6 overall GPA in your undergraduate work.

4)    Submit two letters of recommendation

Application Deadlines: Fall - August 16, 2016; Spring - January 3, 2017; Summer I - May 2, 2017; Summer II - May 29, 2017; Summer III - July 1, 2017

 

Principal Certification:

1)    Fill out the application online

2)    Submit $50 Application Fee (Payable online HERE)

3)    Submit official transcript indicating that you have completed your bachelor’s degree. You will need to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a 2.6 overall GPA in your undergraduate work.

5)    Submit two letters of recommendation

6)    Submit proof of teacher certification (fax or email copy of teacher certificate)

7)    Candidates will complete a formal interview with the program director and/or dean.

Application Deadlines: Fall - August 16, 2016; Spring - January 3, 2017; Summer I - May 2, 2017; Summer II - May 29, 2017; Summer III - July 1, 2017


Teacher Certification:

1)    Fill out the application online.

2)    Submit $50 Application Fee (Payable online HERE)

3)    Submit official transcript indicating that you have completed your bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, a 2.75 overall GPA in your undergraduate work, and a 3.0 overall GPA in your field of study to qualify.

  •   Minimum GPA may be met with last 60 hours of college course work.
  •   The ETBU teacher preparation program is allowed to admit up to 10% of its Candidates with a GPA lower than 2.75. This is done only under extraordinary circumstances and at the discretion of the department.

4)    Complete and submit the criminal history form

5)    Pay the $25 fee to complete the criminal history check (Payable online HERE)

6)    You will need to take and pass the PACT for your certification field before you are fully admitted to our program. Unless you are prevented from doing so by statutory regulations.

  •   In order to teach in secondary subject, you must have 24 hours of course work done in that subject   you desire certification in, with at least 12 of  those hours being upper level courses.
  •   For elementary, you must have a combined total of 24 hours of course work done in core content areas (Math, Social Studies, Science, History, Language Arts).

7)    International students must have a 26 minimum score on the spoken word for other language learners section of the TOEFL.

8)    Candidates will complete a formal interview with the program director and/or dean.

A candidate coming from an educator preparation program of another university or college - may not be admitted to our program in the same certification field as the candidate completed at that institution. Candidate would need to select a different certification track to gain their teacher certification with our E.T.B.U. program.
