       May 15, 2015 is the date for our 6th annual Tiger Football Golf Tournament. Attached, you should find a flier with pertinent information as well as an entry form. Your participation in the tournament as a player, hole sponsor or contributor will help make this tournament a success. All funds raised will go to enhance our program.
Come be a part of a great day, play golf, eat and have a chance to win some amazing door prizes.

       Morgan Garrett, a Kinesiology major from Coushatta, Louisiana, has been selected to serve as Miss ETBU for the 2015-2016 academic year. Morgan's passion and love for ETBU is something you will enjoy hearing from her. She has played basketball for the Lady Tigers since her freshman year and strives to serve the Lord both on and off the court. She has a heart for ministry and enjoys spending time with children and youth at church events and camps. COMMUNICATION STUDIES RESEARCH FORUM

       The Department of Communication Studies will host its annual departmental research forum on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 pm in Scarborough Hall, room 313. Students from the capstone Speech Communication and Mass Communication courses will be presenting their final research projects. Additionally, new members of Lambda Pi Eta, the national Communication Studies honor society will be inducted. All are invited to attend. Please come support these students as they present their research findings.

ETBU TRUSTEES ELECT DR. J. BLAIR BLACKBURN AS PRESIDENT
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (4/07/15) - The East Texas Baptist University Board of Trustees elected Dr. J. Blair Blackburn of Dallas, Texas, as its next president. The announcement came from ETBU Board of Trustees chair Hal Cornish after a special called trustee meeting Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Blackburn will succeed Dr. Samuel W. "Dub" Oliver who left to become the president of Union University located in Jackson, Tennessee, on June 1, 2014.

ETBU CHOIR AND SYMPHONIC BAND TO PRESENT A CONCERT, APRIL 24TH.
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (4/23/15) - The School of Fine Arts at East Texas Baptist University invites the community to attend a concert featuring the ETBU Choir and Symphonic Band. The concert will be in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center on Friday, April 24th, at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.

   MARSHALL, Texas (4/23/15) - The East Texas Baptist University School of Education handed out year-end student awards on Saturday, April 18, 2015, for the 2014-2015 academic year. The awards reception was held in the Woods Great Room of the Ornelas Student Center. Student projects were displayed in the Cornish Great Room.

LADY TIGER TENNIS FINISHES SEASON IN HEARTBREAKING LOSS AT ASC TOURNEY
 
   ASC CHAMPIONSHIPS: TYLER, Texas (4/23/15) - Playing their hearts out in their first-ever post-season match in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, East Texas Baptist University fell just short of advancing to the next round, 5-4, dropping the match to Mary Hardin-Baylor. ETBU fell in two matches that had tie-breaking sets.

ETBU WINS 14TH STRAIGHT GAME COMPLETING SWEEP OF HPU
 
   SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/15) - Finishing off the series against Howard Payne University and sweeping their eighth American Southwest Conference series the #3 East Texas Baptist University softball team run ruled the Yellow Jackets, 9-1, in five innings. ETBU has now won 14 straight games and are 28-2 overall.

   BASEBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/15) -Pulling out the series finale win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Jaxon Rader sacrificed his at-bat in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly to put East Texas Baptist University ahead, 4-3. Jimmy Russo came in the top of the ninth inning to pick up the save as ETBU moved to 16-17 overall.

UMHB SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER ON JAMES MORGAN MEMORIAL DAY
 
   BASEBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/20/15) -Honoring the life and memory of James Morgan, a former ETBU baseball player who lost his life roughly two years ago, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team held the inaugural memorial alumni day after game two of the double header. James? son Kiptyn threw out an honorary ?first pitch? for his dad at the end of the game and the team presented Conner Combs with a plaque as the first member to be honored with the wearing of #16.

In the double header, Mary Hardin-Baylor took two close games slipping by 7-6 in game one and then 4-1 in game two.

PARKER'S PITCHING DOMINATES HPU
 
   SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/20/15) - Totally dominating Howard Payne University only allowing one hit in two games, #3 East Texas Baptist University continued their winning streak sweeping a double header, 10-0, and 3-0. Shelby Parker and Shelby Phillips combined to throw a five-inning perfect game in game one. Parker earned both wins on the day.

   TENNIS (W): TYLER, Texas (4/19/15) - Playing for the top spot in the American Southwest Conference East Division in only the fourth year of the program the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team fell short of a divisional championship, 9-0, to Texas-Tyler. It was the first loss in the ASC East for ETBU as they qualify as the #2 seed for the ASC Tournament which is the first-time ever for the program.

   TENNIS (M): TYLER, Texas (4/19/15) - Completing their season in Tyler, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team fell to regionally ranked Texas-Tyler, 9-0. ETBU ends theirs season at 3-9.

ETBU TIGER FOOTBALL GOLF TOURNAMENT MAY 15TH
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/15) - The East Texas Baptist University Athletic Department presents the Tiger Football Golf Tournament on Friday, May 15, 2015. The 18-hole four-man scramble tournament will be held at The Challenge at Cypress Hills golf course near Waskom. The cost to enter is $300 per four-man scramble team with proceeds of the tournament benefiting the Tiger football program.
