The navigation on the right side of the template is ubiquitous across the website. It is controlled by the file system and how you organize your files with in the CMS.
We can see above that the office of the provost is a folder with files in it and the navigation text reflects that. The navigation text is always there and is the constant companion of our users.
How is navigation text managed
Every file and folder can be have properties added to it. One of those properies is navigation text and navigation position. To access these properties we turn to the context menu. Right click the file or folder you want to edit the navigation text on and select Change Navigation.
The Change Navigation Menu
Here you can choose what text will display in the menu and in what order the text will appear. The order is an insert after statement. If you wanted to instert a new link before Faculty Senate I would choose to insert after Deans Council.
Note: Navigation Text should be the title of the page unless the title is very long then it will need to be shortened to 3 to 4 words to fit in the navigation.
How do I turn navigation text on and off
Right clicking any file will also give you access to the properties menu. This menu does a lot of things one of them is turn the navigation text on and off.
NOTE:You can Skip the Change Navigation Menu on most resources by using the properties menu however some resources will only allow the change navigation menu.
The Properties Menu and navigation text.
The only difference between the properties menu and the change navigation text menu is the the check box labeled Add to navigation. Selecting the box will show the resources link in the navigation and unselecting in will remove it.
After selecting it and providing the navigation Text then you choose where in the list the link will appear. click okay and it will then show up in the navigation to the right.
