School of Christian Studies
Through advanced biblical, theological and practical study, the ETBU School of Christian Studies graduate programs seek to equip men and women to become Christian servant leaders who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their calling in the Kingdom of God.
On behalf of the faculty of the School of Christian Studies and the Department of Religion, I welcome you into a community of learning, rigorous scholarship, academic freedom, ministry, and service. The primary goal of the School of Christian Studies and the Department of Religion is to prepare individuals for various Christian ministries. It is a school and a department whose mission is Christian by tradition and Baptist by heritage.
As a fully integrated part of East Texas Baptist University, the School of Christian Studies maintains a clear identification with and loyalty to the Christian faith and functions within the context of historic Baptist values and principles. The school is fortunate to be blessed with a strong and dedicated faculty characterized by excellent academic preparation, deep personal faith, and commitment to the total development of each student.
Our graduate program offers two degrees. The Master of Arts in Religion is a two-year program focused on preparing students for further theological study and church-related vocations. The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry is a two-year program focused on the application of principles of ministry.
Within the graduate program, all instruction and learning activities are designed to build a community of scholars. Course content will be delivered in the context of faculty lectures, group discussions, concept papers, seminar readings of literature in the discipline, research activities, faculty/student interactions, and student presentations. Students will engage in real world applications of unique issues and concepts inherent in their calling, and will study advanced approaches to the challenges facing the contemporary church, as well as global ministry themes.
This is an exciting time to be at East Texas Baptist University! God richly bless you as you seek God’s will in choosing the right graduate school for your needs.
