Division of Modern Languages

language_01

The Division of Modern Languages offers programs in French and Spanish. Our goal is to guide our students to comprehend, speak, read and write the studied language, and to lead them to understand the cultural patterns of the native speakers of that language.

Courses in Modern Languages are offered to meet graduation requirements and to build the language skills of students who will pursue careers in a wide variety of professions. Thus we design practical courses so that our students can master skills useful in any chosen career.

Our well-equipped language laboratory affords students the opportunity for oral-aural practice. Students also have opportunities to study abroad in France, Spain, Mexico, and other French and Spanish-speaking countries. Students who excel in Spanish language studies may choose membership in the campus chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, a national honor society.
