The music buildings are available for use throughout the academic year. Some rooms in these buildings, such as the music computer lab, Mabee Recital Hall, choral and instrumental rehearsal halls, and practice rooms are open for student use at various hours in the evenings and on weekends. Please note the Building Hours schedule below. You may wish to reserve a specific room or hall to assure that it is available for your needs. The Fine Arts Secretary will assist in this process. Students are expected to take care of these facilities in the absence of faculty/staff supervision.
The Jenna Guest Music Building and the Redwine Instrumental Music Building are available to students according to the following schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Jenna Guest Music Building (JGMB) houses the vocal, choral, and keyboard areas of the Department of Music as well as the Department of Theatre Arts. Included in the facility are the Office of the School of Fine Arts, Choral Hall, Mabee Recital Hall, Bennett Music Technology Center, Kawai Piano Lab, vocal practice rooms, piano practice rooms, classrooms, faculty and student lounges, and the vocal and keyboard faculty office/studios. The Theatre Arts faculty and classrooms are also located in this building.
The Mabee Recital Hall serves as the primary performance hall for all solo recitals, chamber music performances and student performances. The Hall provides one Steinway & Sons 9' grand piano and one Kawai 9' grand piano. The seating capacity is 168.
The Fine Arts Office is open from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office maintains communication boxes for all faculty, staff, and professional accompanists. Students are welcome to use these to communicate with these individuals.
The Bennett Music Technology Lab houses over 10,000 LP recordings, approximately 2,000 CD recordings and 3,000 musical scores. All scores and recordings are available for student use. The lab also contains 16 computer stations designated for student use. Each is connected to the internet and all ETBU electronic resources. In addition, this lab provides specialized music software for music theory, music notation, midi/sequencing, ear training, elementary music training, and other programs. The resources are available for ETBU students, and we encourage all students to work in this lab on class assignments and personal projects. The hours of the Music Technology Lab are posted outside the Lab entrance. These hours will change each semester as student needs dictate.
The Redwine Instrumental Music Building (REDW) houses the instrumental area of the Department of Music. Included in REDW are the Band Hall, practice rooms, a sectional/rehearsal room, instrumental library and the instrumental faculty office/studios.
The Baker Auditorium in the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center (OSLC) serves as the primary performance space for ETBU music ensembles. The 1500 seat auditorium is not as readily available for other music activities since many University organizations and departments, as well as community organizations, also use this facility.
