"Dream big. Both professors and students should take this time to explore, dream and create without fear. You don't have to worry about ticket sales or marketing strategies...you can just explore the rich theatrical vocabulary and create...create...create.”

Cory Garrett is a 2008 graduate who currently works as Designer and Technical Director at KMC Onstage in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He formerly worked with the Quest Theatre Ensemble in Chicago as a theatre technician. In the past he has worked for the Theatre Building Chicago as Stage Manager, Assistant Director, graphic designer, and box office attendant. He has also worked with ArtsLane Theatre, Ofrenda Productions,Porchlight Music Theatre, and YTAMF Productionson various projects. Cory has a lot of experience working on new plays and says “Seeing a show taken from the minds of the writers all the way to the final bow is a humbling experience.” Cory said that he had very supportive professors that let him make his mistakes and grow from them. His theatre professors were Brent Maddox, Shane Fuller, Charlie Pepiton, and Nate Records and everything that he does now is built on their shoulders and he is proud to have such big shoulders to build on.

K’Lynn Childress

K\'Lynn Childress

“The experiences I didn't plan for are the ones that have taught me the most about myself and my aspirations for the future. If you had asked me in 2007 what I wanted to do, I would have said I wanted to spend my life on the stage, become a Broadway star, and make a name for myself. I've realized recently that I don't actually want those things. Be flexible and open to change, and get as many different kinds of experiences as you possibly can.”

K’Lynn Childress is a 2007 graduate who is currently helping her local high-school department get started. She worked in New Mexico at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center from 2007-2009 as the executive director. After that she served with a summer touring company as Program Director, heading up a team of actors and technicians. While she was a ETBU she spent most of her time on the stage. Some of her greatest learning experiences were in the student-directed productions like the Discovery Series. At ETBU she had the opportunity to work with some amazing people and, because of its small nature, she was able to get a lot of great experience.
