Dr. Thomas R. Webster

WEBSTER NEW Webster also served as President of the Texas Association of Music Schools, Region IV College Division Chair for TMEA, and he holds memberships in the College Music Society, the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference, the Music Theory Society, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha Iota.

As a church musician, Dr. Webster serves as Minister of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church, Longview.  Previously, he served churches in Kentucky and Texas, including the First Baptist Churches of Lubbock, Gladewater, Brownwood, Early, and Marshall; and Hurstbourne Baptist Church of Louisville. He also serves as a consultant to search committees as they seek a music minister for their church.

He has presented numerous presentations, including "Music Program Advancement and Audience Building through Partnerships with Community Arts Organizations" (National Association of Music Schools, San Diego, CA, 2012); "Music Career Advising and Implications for University Music Administrators: A Deans Perspective" (College Music Society, San Diego, CA, 2012); "Transformational Worship: Leading congregations to meaningful, life-changing worship experiences and leaving behind the trappings of established styles" (Baptist General Convention of Texas Annual Meeting, Corpus Christi, TX, 2012); "Worship as a Unifying Element in Congregational Life" (BGCT Convention, 2004); "The Art of Worship: Purpose, Priority, Practice" (BGCT Convention, 2005); and "Refreshing Your Conducting and Rehearsal Skills" (BGCT Church MusiConference, 2004).
