Elijah M. Brown, Ph.D.
Dr. Brown holds the rank of Assistant Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned Ph.D.from the University of Edinburgh, New College. His dissertation focused on the development of north-south Sudanese peace, highlighting issues related to the maturation of indigenous Christianity, missions, church growth, conflict resolution and reconciliation, and religion and politics. Dr. Brown is active in the Baptist World Alliance and assisted in a reconciliation process that resulted in an organizational merger and structural unification of two Sudanese Baptist denominations into one in 2008. He has also authored four articles in the field of global Christianity and has made six presentations in various countries since 2003. His practical ministry experiences include serving as the Associate Pastor for Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church, Temple, Texas.
John L. Harris, Ph.D.
Dr. Harris holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He also serves as the Dean of the School of Christian Studies. He has an earned M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary, concentrating in the fields of Old Testament, New Testament, and archaeology. He also has done additional graduate study at Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University. His teaching experience includes three years at the graduate level and 15 years at the undergraduate level. Dr. Harris’ academic contributions include twenty-one publications and presentations. Since 1980, his ministry experiences include serving in the positions of pastor, associate pastor, single adult pastor, interim pastor, and youth minister.
Jeph Holloway, Ph.D.
Dr. Holloway holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, focusing in the field of ethics. He has also done
additional graduate study at Duke University and Columbia Theological Seminary. His teaching experiences include three years at the graduate level (seven courses at the M.Div. level, two courses at the D.Min. level, and two courses at the Ph.D. level) and 17 years at the undergraduate level. Dr. Holloway’s academic contributions include seventeen publications and presentations. Since 1978, his ministry experiences include serving in the positions of youth minister, assistant pastor, interim pastor, and pastor.
Rick L. Johnson, Ph.D.
Dr. Johnson holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, concentrating in the field of Old Testament. He has also done additional graduate study at the University of Texas at Arlington, Brown University, Rice University, Wayland Baptist University, and Eberhard Karls Universitat, Tubingen, Germany. His teaching experiences include 14 years at the graduate level (M.Div. and Ph.D. levels) and 17 years at the undergraduate level. Dr. Johnson’s academic contributions include 80 publications and presentations. Since 1971, his ministry experiences include serving in the positions of youth minister, assistant pastor, and interim pastor.
R. Warren Johnson, Ph.D.
Dr. Johnson holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.Div. and Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, concentrating in the field of New Testament. His teaching experiences include four years at the graduate level and 11 years at the undergraduate level. Dr. Johnson’s academic contributions include 22 presentations and publications. Since 1993, his ministry experiences include serving as pastor for Shoreline Park Baptist Church, Waveland, Mississippi, and First Baptist Church, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, and as education minister for Central Baptist Church, Marshall, Texas

Lynn New, Ph.D.
Dr. New holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a M.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Ph.D.
from the University of Texas at Austin, focusing in the field of psychology. His teaching experiences include 24 years in higher education. His academic contributions include 16 presentations and publications. Dr. New’s ministry experiences include serving at the National Chung Gung University, Tainan, Taiwan.
Jerry L. Summers, Ph.D.
Dr. Summers holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.Div. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. with a major in college teaching and a minor in history from the University of North Texas. He also has done additional graduate study at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford. His teaching experiences include 20 years in higher education. His academic contributions include 37 presentations and publications. Dr. Summers also authored Sam B. Hall, Jr.: Whatever is Right (2005), a biography published by East Texas Baptist University and Best of East Texas Press. His ministry experiences include serving as the Baptist Student Union Director, Mitchell-Scurry Baptist Association, Western Texas College, Snyder.
Tom Webster, Ph.D.
Dr. Webster holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.M. from Texas Christian University and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University, concentrating in the fields of instrumental conducting and literature. His teaching experiences include 17 years in higher education. Dr. Webster has been actively involved in church music leadership since 1987, serving in the positions of minister of music/associate minister of music, interim minister of music, and minister of music and youth. His music experiences include 27 conducting performances, five guest conducting/band clinic performances, and six saxophone/clarinet performances. He has also served in more than 33 church supply and short-term interim worship leader positions.
David White, Ph.D.
Dr. White holds the rank of Professor at East Texas Baptist University. He has an earned M.R.E. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, concentrating in the fields of education administration and childhood ministry. He also has done additional graduate study at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His teaching experiences include 28 years at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His academic contributions include numerous articles for BaptistWay Press, Parent Life, and Outreach magazine and more than 250 Bible studies for Sunday School teachers for LifeWay Christian Resources. Dr. White’s ministry experiences include serving as the supervisor for the Goldia and Robert Naylor Children’s Center, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, and minister of Children’s Work, First Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia. He has also served numerous churches in the positions of interim minister of education and administration, Sunday School director, and deacon.
