ETBU Holds 3rd Annual Great East Texas Hymn Sing on September 13thby Mike Midkiff
MARSHALL, Texas (9/09/13)- The Third Annual Great East Texas Hymn Sing will be held at East Texas Baptist University on Friday, September 13, 2013, in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. The Great East Texas Hymn Sing is the kick-off event of the nine-day Marshall Music Festival.
The Great East Texas Hymn Sing will be a full hour and half of enthusiastic singing led by great leaders from the East Texas area. This years’ leadership includes Billy Foote, Stacy Perkins, Kermit Tandberg, Steve Slover and ETBU’s Director of Choral Activities, Justin Hodges.
"I have long contended that, second only to the Bible, the hymnal has been the single most unifying force in American Christianity. The Great East Texas Hymn Sing is a new tradition at ETBU seeking to honor our hymn heritage and give opportunity for our region to celebrate the Gospel together with a single and solid voice,” said ETBU Director of Alumni Development Paul Tapp. "Energizing, encouraging and inspirational, the Hymn Sing is one of those ‘don’t miss it if you can’ kind of experiences – an event you will want to be repeated again and again.”
A reception and time for visiting and fellowship will follow after the singing. There is no cost to attend the Hymn Sing.
If your church group wants to arrive early and have lunch on campus, a catered lunch will be served in Woods Great Room in the Ornelas Student Center beginning at noon. Cost of the lunch will be $15 per person. Reservations for lunch are required by September 9. Make reservations for lunch by calling 903-923-2042.
