ETBU Earns 3rd ASC Player of the Week Award in Rucker

BASKETBALL (W): RICHARDSON, Texas (12/24/12) – Amanda Rucker became the third East Texas Baptist University women’s basketball player to earn the American Southwest Conference East Player of the Week award this year after her strong play vs. Sul Ross State. It is the second week in a row that ETBU has gained the award as Mary Slaughter was the winner last week.

In the only game of the week before the holiday break, Rucker busted through to the basket for a career-high 22 points grabbing 11 rebounds. It was her first double-double of the year and third overall in her career. She shot 69% in the game and netted 11 points in each half finishing with four assists and two steals. ETBU finished with a 25-point win which was their best of season.

ETBU is now 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the ASC. The six wins match what they had in 2011-12. Along with Rucker and Slaughter, April Leonard has also won the ASC East Player of the Week award this year.
