Members of the Physical Facilities staff prepare to move the shelves so new carpet can be laid. The device being attached to the shelves is a jack of sorts. After installation a hydraulic lift will pick the shelves up off the ground, allowing the entire set to be moved on wheels without a single book being taken off.
