ETBU Welcomes First, Live Mascot - "Sarge"

East Texas Baptist University has formed an agreement with Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge in Tyler, Texas to sponsor "Sarge", a 2 1/2 year old, 500 lb, Siberian tiger.

Sarge and his sister, Lily, live at Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge along with 25 other tigers of various origin, five African lions, two leopards, and two pumas. Tiger Creek is a big cat sanctuary that was developed from 1997-1998, and officially founded in May of 1999. The refuge, located just 2.8 miles north of Tyler State Park, is nestled along several gentle rolling hills with a valley, is heavily wooded and is divided by a spring-fed creek named Tiger Creek.
